Day 1– ARRIVAL IN ECUADOR: QUITO:
The capital situated at 9186 ft of altitude and classified « World Cultural Heritage » by UNESCO. Reception by your guide and transfer to a boutique 4* hotel in the historical center. Welcome cocktail and night.
Day 2- QUITO: WORLD CULTURAL HERITAGE:
Visit of Quito and its historic and Colonial center: from the north of the city: Guapulo viewpoint, the Congress Palace’s mural, Independence Square, the Cathedral, the Government and Episcopal Palaces, the well known Baroque and Moresque church of "La Compañía", San Francisco Colonial church and convents among other sites. End of the city, at Panecillo hill with Quito Virgin, to have a sensational panoramic view of the old Quito. In the afternoon, visit of “La Capilla del Hombre” master piece museum of the most famous Ecuadorian painter and sculptor: Oswaldo Guayasamín or visit of another museum. Night.
Day 3- QUITO * EQUATORIAL LINE * QUITO:
Visit of the two typical Ecuadorian handcraft galleries: Galeria Latina and Olga Fish. Then transfer to the “Mitad del Mundo” at latitude 0 (about 25 Km from Quito). Visit of the famous Equator Monument and neo-Colonial village: museum of the French Geodesic XVIIIs century Mission and/or Inti Nan Ethno-scientific museum. Night in a small boutique hotel with view of Pululahua crater close by or return to Quito and night at the same hotel.
Day 4- QUITO * OTAVALO:
Drive toward the North province of Imbabura known as the Otavalo region, famous for its beautiful lakes, majestic volcanoes, Indigenous “Otovalenian” people who are known for their handicraft, music, food... In the way, visit of a "masapan" workshop in Calderon and panoramic stop at San Pablo lake, in which the Imbabura volcano reflects itself. Then visit of the well known Indigenous market of Otavalo, where the Otovalenian expose their fabrics, weaved, woolen clothes and where we can appreciate all the handicrafts of Ecuador and its neighbor countries. Then Tour of Peguche, the village of Indigenous weavers, musicians and instruments makers and/or stop at Cotacachi, the village of leather confection and panoramic view of Cuicocha crater lake, located at the foot of Cotacachi volcano. Transfer to a charming historic 4* hacienda of the region. Welcome cocktail and night.
Day 5- OTAVALO * ZULETA HACIENDA * MOJANDA:
Free time to enjoy the site and the cozy hacienda or in option, horse riding in the surrounding lands. Drive to the well-known Hacienda Zuleta, historic property of many generations and which specialty is the embroidery made by the beautiful and well dressed Zuleta Indigenous women. Possible visit of their small market (on Sunday, twice a month) and presentation of the condor park of the hacienda. Transfer to a cozy 4* inn close by the Andean lagoons of Mojanda and Fuya Fuya mountain, Night or in option, night at Zuleta hacienda.
Day 6– MOJANDA or ZULETA – PAPALLACTA THERMS:
Panoramic view of Mojanda lakes or free time to enjoy the inn or the hacienda or sport activity there. Then drive to Papallacta hot springs, located at the foot of the beautiful Antisana volcano. Accommodation at Papallacta spa hotel. Delicious bath in hot spring pools. Night.
Day 7– PAPALLACTA - COTOPAXI: CIENEGA or SAN AGUSTIN DEL CALLO:
Drive toward the 2nd highest Ecuadorian volcano: Cotopaxi (about 19358 ft), up to La Cienega old hacienda house (4*) or in option to the amazing and cozy hacienda of the Inca and Colonial periods: « San Agustin del Callo » (4* superior) with an extraordinary panorama of the Cotopaxi, Antisana, Illinizas, Chimborazo..volcanoes. Night at the hacienda of your choice. Dinner included in case of stay at San Agustin hacienda.
Day 8- COTOPAXI * RIOBAMBA:
Sport activities such as horse-riding or walking, biking according to the hacienda or excursion in the national Park of Cotopaxi volcano. Possible hiking to its refuge (15748 ft). Stop at the small Limpiopungo Lake. Or according to the day, possible visit to an Indigenous local market. Then drive following the “Avenue of Volcanoes” up to Chimborazo Volcano region (20702 ft) which dominates the city of Riobamba. Night at a 4* boutique hotel in Riobamba and short panoramic tour or dinner and night at a cozy and panoramic mountain inn, located at the foot of the colossal Chimborazo, which owner is the first Andean guide of the country and a public figure who will share with you his fabulous experiences.
Day 9- RIOBAMBA * TRAIN OF THE ANDES * INGAPIRCA * CUENCA:
Quick tour of Riobamba and transfer to Alausi village station, Train of the Andes (in Autoferro, a kind of bus on rail) to the terminal of Sibambe through the « Devil’s Nose » zigzag. Coming back to Alausi then drive to the charming city of Cuenca. In the way, visit of the Inca Temple of Ingapirca, its ruins and its small archeological museum. Dinner and night in the inn of Ingapirca (3*) or night in a boutique hotel (4*) of Cuenca
Day 10- CUENCA:
Visit of Cuenca, World Cultural Heritage: of its markets, its historical center, Cathedral, squares then nice viewpoint of Cuenca from El Juli site or Mirador. Visit of a « Panama » hat and a ceramic factories. In the afternoon, visit of the museum of your choice: Central Bank museum: archeology, ethnology and Colonial or Contemporaneous art...or of another museum such as the Indigenous Culture museum or a private art collection. Night.
Day 11- CUENCA * CAJAS LAKES * GUAYAQUIL:
Drive toward the Littoral region, the economic Ecuadorian capital city. In the way, possible and optional excursion and walk in the nice and high the National Park of the Cajas lakes (similar to Papallacta and Mojanda landscapes). Arrival in Guayaquil, rest, panoramic city tour and walk, including the visit of its Iguanas park, the Malecon 2000 (or promenade) up to the old quarter of Las Peñas. Farewell cocktail and night in a 4* charming hotel in a warm atmospher.
Day 12– GUAYAQUIL - FLIGHT BACK HOME or EXTENSION TO AMAZON REGION or GALAPAGOS: Last breakfast in Ecuador then transfer to Guayaquil international airport and flight back home.
Or in option, flight to the Enchanted Galapagos islands for a 4, 5 or 8 days 1st class cruise or flights to the Amazon and program of 4 or 5 days in an amazing 1st class lodge in the well-known Yasuni park, the most biodiverse place in the world.
